Bruin Learn / Canvas underwent scheduled enhancement on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. With this update, when the Customizable Dashboard for Learners feature option is enabled, students will have access to a personalized dashboard experience that makes it easier to manage coursework, grades, deadlines, announcements, and communication in one centralized location.
CidiLabs UDOIT underwent scheduled enhancement on Thursday, May 14, 2026. With this update, Cidi Labs UDOIT is now available in Bruin Learn. UDOIT helps instructors and TAs identify and improve accessibility issues in their courses by scanning course content, including pages, files, images, links, tables, and some embedded media. It provides accessibility guidance in a centralized dashboard where instructors can review, prioritize, and rescan course content.
Peerceptiv underwent scheduled enhancement on Monday, April 13, 2026. With this update, Peerceptiv’s text editor will include enhanced rich text editing capabilities, autosave functionality for students, and version history playback for instructors for all written submissions and peer reviews.
Starting on June 15, 2026, Zoom Cloud recordings will no longer automatically copy to Kaltura. To retain recordings beyond Zoom’s 120-day Cloud storage limit, you must opt-in to copy future Zoom Cloud recordings to your Kaltura account.
Bruin Learn (Canvas) access has been restored. Instructure, the parent company of Canvas, has confirmed that its global cybersecurity incident has been contained and remediated. In coordination with the UC Office of the President, we have determined, based on the latest available information, that Instructure’s system is ready for campus use.
There is currently an outage with Bruin Learn (Canvas). While Canvas has restored initial functionality to the platform, in alignment with UC guidance, UCLA is performing security assurance, configuration, and integrity checks before re-enabling access.
We write to share an important update on UCLA’s digital accessibility compliance deadline. The updated UC Policy IMT-1300 requires complying with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA by April 24, 2026, and with it, a requirement that all new digital content (websites, social media posts, documents, applications, course materials and technology purchases) meet the WCAG 2.1 AA standard.
HHS has issued an Interim Final Rule extending the Section 504 web and mobile accessibility compliance deadline by one year, to May 11, 2027 for institutions with 15 or more employees. The Steering Committee is working with Compliance and Campus Counsel to assess the implications for the campus program, including whether this affects our obligations under other relevant laws and whether UC's IT Accessibility Policy (IMT-1300) will be revised. We will share updates as more information becomes available.
