About Us
The Organizational Change Management Center of Excellence (OCM COE) is part of the UCLA Digital & Technology Solutions and serves as a strategic partner to campus units and project teams leading technology, process, and organizational change.
We operate at the strategic, operational, and tactical levels, tailoring our partnership to the size, complexity, and impact of each initiative. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach, we work with teams to determine the right level of change management support based on the magnitude of change and organizational needs.
Depending on the initiative, we may:
- Provide strategic guidance to help leaders shape their change approach.
- Partner alongside project teams to co-design and deliver change management activities.
- Deliver hands-on change management support for initiatives requiring dedicated execution.
Our work is grounded in a standardized methodology informed by successful UCLA initiatives and continuously refined through project experience, lessons learned, and evolving campus needs. By aligning our level of engagement with each initiative, we help organizations strengthen readiness, accelerate adoption, and achieve sustainable outcomes.
As UCLA continues to modernize its digital environment, the OCM COE helps teams successfully navigate evolving technologies, AI-enabled capabilities, business processes, and ways of working in support of the University’s Strategic Plan.
What We Do
The OCM COE helps organizations successfully manage the people side of change by providing the right level of partnership throughout the change journey. We collaborate with campus units and project teams to define the scope and magnitude of change, understand organizational impacts, assess readiness, and determine the most effective change management approach.
Our engagement scales to meet each initiative's needs. Whether advising executive sponsors on change strategy, partnering with project teams to integrate change into delivery, or executing change management activities directly, we provide support where it creates the greatest value.
Using our proven methodology, we help initiatives strengthen:
- Change strategy and planning
- Stakeholder and leadership engagement
- Communications
- Training
- End-user readiness and adoption
This flexible model enables teams to receive the right support at the right time, helping ensure change is understood, embraced, and sustained.
How We Serve You
Every initiative is different, and so is our approach.
The OCM COE partners with campus units and project teams to determine the level of engagement that best fits the initiative's goals, complexity, stakeholder impact, organizational readiness, and adoption risk. Our services range from strategic advisory support to collaborative delivery and hands-on implementation.
We support organizations across five core areas:
1. Change Management Planning
Helping teams define the vision for change, assess organizational impacts, determine the appropriate change management approach, and establish a roadmap for successful adoption.
2. Stakeholder and Leadership Engagement
Partnering with leaders and key stakeholders to build alignment, strengthen sponsorship, and foster commitment throughout the change journey.
3. Communications
Developing strategic communication approaches that build awareness, reinforce key messages, and guide stakeholders through change with clarity and confidence.
4. Training
Assessing learning needs and helping teams prepare employees to adopt new systems, tools, processes, and ways of working.
5. End-User Readiness
Preparing organizations for implementation, measuring readiness, gathering feedback, supporting adoption, and reinforcing change beyond go-live.
