Bruin Learn underwent scheduled enhancement on Thursday, August 20, 2026. With this update, three new administrative roles are now available in Bruin Learn: View Courses Change Logs Role, View Courses List Role, and Update User Profile Pictures Role. These supplemental roles can be added to an existing Sub-Account Admin role upon request and are assigned at the root (top-tier sub-account) level in Bruin Learn. These roles grant enhanced functionality to support staff with three discrete permissions:

• View Courses Change Logs Role: Allows Sub-Account Admins to view Canvas course activity logs for course sites within their academic unit’s sub-account only.
• View Courses List Role: Allows Sub-Account Admins to view a read-only list of all course sites across academic units. This enables them to identify cross-listed courses that reside in a different academic unit’s sub-account.
• Update User Profile Pictures Role: Assigned at the root level to a dedicated service account. This role allows Bruin Learn root admins to generate a temporary token that can be shared with a Sub-Account Admin, enabling them to programmatically update user profile pictures within their academic unit’s sub-account.
