ATTENTION: The temporary quota extension for Google Drive Storage is EXPIRING.
All UCLA Google Workspace users and shared drives must be within their Permanent Baseline Quota – or approved storage limit tier, for eligible affiliation groups – by April 7, 2026.
All users must take immediate action to ensure compliance.
All UCLA Google accounts that are not within their approved quota by April 7, 2026 will experience service interruptions.
If you have questions or concerns regarding your account, contact help@it.ucla.edu.
Permanent Baseline Quotas were implemented on all UCLA Google Personal Drives and Shared Drives on June 27, 2024. A Permanent Baseline Quota is the storage limit that an account’s use must be under to avoid disruption to UCLA Google services.
| Primary Affiliation* | Permanent Baseline Quota |
|---|---|
| All staff and students (undergraduate and graduate students not graduating in 2024)** | 20GB per account |
| Academic deans, faculty, emeriti, recall, non-faculty, postdocs, medical residents** | 50GB per account, starting June 2026 (see quota extension information below) |
| Alumni, retirees | 5GB per account for email only |
| Students in the Class of 2024 and 2025 | 5GB per account |
| Shared Drives*** | 20GB per drive |
*Permanent Baseline Quota assignment is based on primary affiliation, set in the following order for those with multiple affiliations: faculty (including emeriti), staff, students, retirees, alumni.
** UCLA Faculty, Research, and Staff members may request additional Google Workspace storage up to 500GB at no cost.
*** Registered Research Shared drives are eligible to request complimentary storage quota increases up to 2TB.
Please note that UCLA’s data storage quotas are based on the total amount of available storage and how that space is being used across campus. Because storage is a shared resource, individual quotas may change over time in response to campus-wide storage capacity and utilization. Quotas may be adjusted—either increased or decreased—to ensure sufficient storage availability and equitable access to resources for the broader Bruin community.
Refer to the Quota Extension Eligibility section for more information on requesting a storage quota increase.
