Enterprise Data Integration at UCLA is enabled by three specialized teams in EDA group that work together to deliver a unified, secure, and scalable integration ecosystem. Each team focuses on a distinct area of expertise while collaborating to support end-to-end integration across systems and data platforms.
Data Integration Team
Focus: Building data pipelines and managing data movement, transformation, and accessibility.
What they do:
- Ingest and transform data into curated, reusable datasets
- Support the data Lakehouse architecture
- Provide frameworks for batch and real-time pipelines
Application Integration Team
Focus: Connecting systems and enabling real-time, event-driven, and API-based workflows.
What they do:
- Manage integration platforms (e.g., API Gateway, Managed File Transfer (MFT))
- Provide reusable patterns for secure and scalable system-to-system integrations
- Support event-driven and transactional use cases
Data Quality Team
Focus: Ensuring data trustworthiness through proactive monitoring, validation, and reporting.
What they do:
- Define and manage data quality rules
- Develop automated data checks and alerting
- Enable data stewardship through dashboards and issue notifications
