Data Literacy Learning Path

Why Data Literacy Matters at UCLA

Data is central to how UCLA plans, operates, evaluates performance, and makes decisions. Data literacy is the ability to read, understand, interpret, communicate, and make decisions using data in context. At UCLA, developing shared data skills helps faculty and staff make better use of institutional data, collaborate across units, recognize data quality and ethical considerations, and translate information into meaningful insights and action. Data literacy is more than learning new tools or techniques. It is about developing a shared approach to understanding and using data across UCLA. By strengthening our ability to evaluate, analyze, visualize, and communicate data, we can make more informed decisions, collaborate more effectively, and turn information into meaningful action.

Your data skills can help advance UCLA’s mission—one decision at a time.
