Overview
H5P is a content authoring tool that allows users with author licenses to create interactive content. Examples include video quizzes, interactive slides, and branching scenarios. H5P integrates directly into Bruin Learn and can be embedded into Pages or Assignments with Gradebook integration for low stakes assessments such as knowledge checks.
Primary Benefits
- User Interface for content authoring without the need for coding
- Seamless Gradebook integration
- Interactive media types including branching scenarios, video quizzes, image hotspots, drag and drop quizzes and puzzles
- Drill down reports allow for detailed analysis of learner progress
- Content management, templates and collaboration with other authors
Author Role
Authors can create, edit, and publish H5P content. This role is suitable for educators, content developers, or anyone responsible for developing interactive learning materials.
Pricing
H5P requires the purchase of individual Author licenses. The recharge cost for each author seat for the 2025-26 academic year is $230.00. To obtain an author license a user must contact bruinlearn-support@it.ucla.edu and provide their Department Code, FAU admin email and FAU.
If a user with an H5P author account does not renew their license, their existing content will remain intact, and any embedded H5P activities in courses will continue to function as expected. However, the user will lose the ability to edit or update their content. To make changes, the content would need to be reassigned to another active author account, or the author account would require renewal.
