Overview
CidiLabs TidyUP is a Bruin Learn course content management tool designed to help instructors efficiently identify, organize, and remove unused or outdated content within Bruin Learn. The tool supports improved course maintenance, reduced storage clutter, and more sustainable long-term management of instructional content.
TidyUP scans Bruin Learn content as well as Files to identify what is considered in-use. Cidi Labs defines in-use as any content that is either added to course modules or linked somewhere else in a Bruin Learn course. Using TidyUP, instructors can quickly identify content that is duplicative or from previous terms. With built-in guard rails to assist with the accidental removal of course content, TidyUP allows you to create back ups of material and flag folders as exceptions to course scans.
Using TidyUP can assist instructors with removing inaccessible, outdated materials from their course, saving valuable time to focus on current content. Please note that while this tool may improve a course’s overall accessibility score, it is not a guarantee and remediation of content with our other tools is still highly recommended.
Recommended Course Setup Workflow
1. Import – Import or copy your previous course content into your new course in Bruin Learn.
2. Run TidyUP – Organize course files and remove unused, unwanted, or duplicate content.
3. Remediate – Address accessibility issues in course documents and media using integrated accessibility tools.
4. Publish – Publish your course once content is organized, accessible, and ready for students.
Primary Benefits
For Instructors
TidyUP allows instructors to:

- Improve course accessibility by removing unused, unremediated content
Limitations of TidyUP
In its current state, TidyUP can scan almost all course content with a few exceptions:
- TidyUP does not yet scan New Quizzes
- TidyUP cannot scan Classic Quiz Question Banks due to API limitations
- TidyUP cannot scan Classic Quiz Questions for files (these files are viewed as connected to the question banks)
- TidyUP helps instructors organize course files, identify unused content, and remove unnecessary materials to keep Bruin Learn courses clean and manageable. While this can simplify course maintenance, it does not improve accessibility by itself. We recommend using one of our integrated course accessibility scanning solutions to identify and remediate inaccessible or non-compliant content after using TidyUP
Additionally, TidyUP may incorrectly flag Ally-remediated files as not in-use due to those files not meeting the TidyUP definition of in-use.

Cidi Labs TidyUP is paid for by the University. It is available to instructors at no cost.
